The atmospheric little fishing village of Mevagissey in southern Cornwall is one of the best examples of a typical, traditional, Cornish fishing village and should be on the itinary of any visitor to this part of the country. Located not far from Portmellon, Pentewan, Gorran Haven and St Ewe Mevagissey is one of over 250 towns or villages in Cornwall in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest main cities are Truro (which has a population of just 20,920) and Plymouth (with the much larger population of 243,795).
Although still operating as a fishing port Mevagissey gains much of its income these days from tourists, and during the summer months it is a veritable hive of activity as boats come and go and visitors from all parts explore its cobbled streets and busy harbour. The quaint shops, fish and chips, and of course places selling ice cream, all add to the character. A 'must see'.
